Our client, Atlantic Canada Language Academy, is a privately owned language school located in Lunenburg, NS and is currently seeking qualified, experienced ESL/EAL teacher. The successful candidates will work alongside our existing team to provide an immersive language experience that follows the ethos of the school – “Study. Work. Live. in Atlantic Canada.
Our EAL Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering (in-person and/or online) lessons based on best practices and current research. Students from all over the world join our classes to prepare themselves for study and work in an English-speaking setting. Our courses are offered in person and online via Zoom. ACLA teachers liaise with each other and with the Academic Director regularly to ensure lessons are coherent and meet the expectations of the school’s curriculum.
Minimum Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree and TESOL Certification
Minimum Experience: 2-5 years
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure new students get a brief welcome and introduction to their classmates during orientation
Meet with students to discuss their personal aims during their first week and during bi-weekly scheduled tutorials
Use “Needs and Goals Analysis”, “Our Aims” and tutorial feedback to plan task-based lessons weekly
Prepare weekly lesson plans
Upload weekly lesson plans to class platform in a timely manner
Conduct engaging lessons
Administer assessments to all students and record results on the students’ record forms on platform
Assist students in maintaining Learning Portfolio
Customize for age and level appropriate lessons and learning experience for students
Attend professional development seminars

Problem solving and trouble shooting within the classroom, online platform and on LMS
Special Consideration will be given to:
Specialized training or experience in teaching English for Specific Purposes
International work experience
Ability to speak another language
Ability to work remotely
Flexibility to accommodate different time zones (evenings, nights, weekends)
